Seasons Garden Centre - Burton Latimer

Seasons Garden Centre - a blooming local favourite!
For two decades, Hannah has been a familiar face at Seasons Garden Centre in Burton Latimer, where she’s loved being part of a family-run business in her hometown. Her long service speaks volumes about the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that keeps both staff and customers coming back.
We popped in for a coffee and a chat to find out more about this lovely local business.
With spring very much in the air now, the garden centre is buzzing with activity as customers stock up on plants, seeds, grow-your-own essentials, and stylish garden furniture to prepare for the warmer months.Hannah, Seasons Garden Centre
Garden centres have evolved into experience destinations, where people don’t just come to shop but to relax, explore, and enjoy a day out. Whether it’s picking up gardening essentials, finding a gift, browsing homeware, grabbing a bite to eat, or seeking seasonal inspiration, Seasons offers a warm and welcoming space all year round.
Seasons is one of three garden centres in the group, with the others located in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. The business itself began 83 years ago with West End DIY which now has 10 shops in Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas, including inside Seasons. Given the natural connection between DIY and gardening, it wasn’t long before founders Mr and Mrs Taylor expanded into the garden centre world in the early 90s, bringing their passion for home and garden to more communities.
Inside Seasons, customers will find much more than just gardening supplies. Our spacious café serves up freshly made breakfasts, lunches, and snacks throughout the day, making it a popular spot for a mid-shopping break or a catch-up with friends, or to celebrate a special occasion. The homeware section is filled with gifts, furniture, and decorative pieces to complement any home, and our pet centre has a wide range of pet products and has recently become home to Maidenhead Aquatics which stocks everything from pond products to Koi Carp, as well as a wide range of aquarium supplies!
The most famous residents of Seasons are Bob and JoJo, the garden centre’s much-loved birds. Bob, an African Grey parrot, and JoJo an Orange Winged Amazon parrot entertain visitors daily with their loud chatting, singing, and laughter. They’re particularly popular with children, who often drop in after school just to see them!
Over the years, I have seen a growing trend of younger generations embracing gardening, thanks in part to the rise of social media content. Growing your own produce is very popular and we provide everything needed to get started, from seeds and soil to expert advice from our friendly team. The demand for outdoor living spaces has also increased, and we have a great range of garden furniture, BBQs, and outdoor décor, with something to suit all budgets. Whether it’s lighting, dining sets, parasols, or even picnic sets and lawnmowers, we have everything to make the most of the great outdoors, and local delivery is available for larger items.
Beyond retail, we enjoy being involved in the local community. We love the Burton Latimer Nature Group, who recently purchased wildflower seeds to enhance local green spaces. We will also be taking part in the Festival of Nature at Wicksteed Park this May, bringing gardening activities and products to the event. Additionally, we work closely with local charity Animals in Need, collecting donations of pet food, toys, and treats, and most recently, we’ve been raising funds to install a defibrillator at the garden centre.
As a family-run business, customer service is at the heart of what we do. Competing with big brands isn’t always easy, but the personal touch, expert advice, and friendly atmosphere helps to set us apart. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting started, we are always happy to help with tips, ideas, and inspiration. We also have a free in-house magazine which has lots of information, products, and gardening advice inside, and a special discount voucher too, be sure to pick one up on your next visit!
