June Plum - Wellingborough
On Cambridge Street in Wellingborough, you’ll find a brilliant restaurant called June Plum Food which brings the vibrant flavours of Jamaica to the heart of Northamptonshire. Owned and run by the talented Jodi, this chilled vibes restaurant serves up delicious Jamaican cuisine with a modern twist, with dishes created using traditional ingredients.
We loved visiting and meeting Jodi who told us: “With my Jamaican roots, I’ve made June Plum to be a little slice of the Caribbean in Wellingborough town centre! Alongside the team, I’ve worked hard to create a welcoming tropical paradise where you can escape to enjoy our beach-inspired restaurant which is complete with music, beach decor, and authentic Jamaican accessories. With two floors of relaxed dining space, there is plenty of room, and everyone is welcome here.
At June Plum, our passion for flavourful food doesn’t stop at the menu! We make and sell our own range of pickles, sauces, spices, and seasonings, so you can take a little piece of Jamaica home with you. To complement the delicious food, we also offer bespoke cocktails, each with a tropical Jamaican twist. Favourites include the refreshing Botanical Babe and the rum-infused fruit punch.Jodi - June Plum
I was born and raised in Jamaica and have a passion for food and hospitality. I spent time travelling when I was younger where I attended culinary school in Miami before moving to the UK with my brother and sister. My grandparents are from the UK, and after moving over here I saw an opportunity to share the vibrant flavours of my heritage with the local community. I started out working as a chef in a village pub where I began to introduce Jamaican dishes to the menu which became so popular, it inspired me to start my own business.
It all began with Jodi’s Jam Rock food trailer, where I served up street food at a local retail park, and the incredible feedback and connections I made motivated me to open my own restaurant back in 2014 and I’ve never looked back.
Family is very important to me, and my brother works alongside me in the kitchen, and my sister, Jade, who has additional needs, loves spending time at the restaurant. My dedication to my family is reflected in the warm, welcoming vibe of June Plum, and our motto is: “From our family to yours.
We care deeply about the local community, and as well as running the restaurant, we provide meals for those in need and host cookery workshops where guests can learn the art of Jamaican cooking, including the essential marinating techniques that make the cuisine so unique and delicious. We also provide a catering service for events such as weddings and corporate functions, bringing a taste of the Caribbean to any occasion.
For those who can’t visit us in person, we offer a popular delivery service within a 10-mile radius. Whether it’s a Friday night feast or a weekend treat, if you can’t come to June Plum, June Plum can come to you!
June Plum is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 11am until late, offering both lunch and dinner, or you can stop by for a delicious cocktail and other drinks. Whether you’re planning a midweek get together, or a lively weekend meal, Jodi and her team invite you to experience delicious food, and the vibrant flavours of Jamaica, right on your doorstep!
