Border Clash - Kettering
This year something exciting happened on Sheep Street in Kettering because Border Clash opened its doors! The buzz started straight away, thanks to its striking frontage painted by local artist Squidgy, inspired by their very own Border Clash rum. It’s bright, it’s fun, and it got people talking, and we had to find out more.

We stopped by to meet Aaron and Kanitta, the brilliant duo behind this vibrant new spot who have created something special thanks to their experience and business ethos.
We’ve been blown away by the welcome we’ve had from the local community. People have really embraced what we’re doing, and that means so much to us.Aaron and Kanitta - Border Clash
Border Clash is all about flavour and atmosphere. Downstairs, you’ll find a lively bar where cocktails flow and dancing is optional but definitely encouraged! Upstairs is a more chilled dining space, perfect for enjoying our incredible menu which is packed full of Thai and Caribbean favourites like Pad Thai, jerk chicken, goat curry, duck in chilli sauce, and fusion dishes that steal the show, not to mention the beef chilli which is always a winner!
We absolutely love the building because it is filled with history and dates back to 1629 as the oldest pub in Kettering. We have kept its heritage alive with original features like stone walls and roof beams, adding our own twist and stylish bar areas.
Our combined experience helped us come up with the Border Clash concept. Kanitta brings experience from her previous business venture Tong Thai, a much-loved local restaurant, while Aaron’s background includes running the local Jerk Food and Rum Festival. We had an inspirational moment one day about bringing the two together, and Border Clash was born!
Drinks here are just as exciting as the food. Our signature rum cocktails are a must-try, and the rum itself is locally distilled and available to buy. Rum has had a real revival over the past few years, and we’re proud to be part of that.
Along with the great food and drinks, we are bringing fun and community! Our Karaoke Tuesdays are very popular, and we have just introduced Vinyl Thursdays where customers bring their own records. We’ve also launched bottomless brunch Saturdays which have become a weekend favourite. In the summer, the party even spilled onto the street with dancing which we love to see.
It is good vibes only here and our customers are wonderful. We have regulars now and we love getting to know everyone. The team is fantastic. We are small, with family members in the kitchen and staff joining in taste tests to keep the menu fresh and seasonal. We want everyone to feel part of this, and the team are great and have really got on board with our vision.
We’ve also found the Kettering business community to be incredibly supportive, other small business owners have popped in just to say hi, and we love recommending each other.
Running Border Clash is hard work, but it fits our lifestyle, because we like to be busy! There’s not much downtime as when we’re not working, we are thinking about work and making plans. At the moment our plans and preparations include Christmas parties which are already proving popular - expect DJs, karaoke, dancing, and our New Year’s Eve bash will ring in 2026 with style! We’re also planning to launch a local takeaway service so people can enjoy Border Clash at home. We can’t wait to see what next year will bring!
You absolutely can’t miss Border Clash! Look for the colourful frontage on Sheep Street and follow the vibes! The door is always open, the welcome is always warm, and Aaron and Kanitta are always happy to help you pick the perfect dish.
