The Overstone Arms - Pytchley

Great food, a warm welcome, and a family-run pub with heart - welcome to The Overstone Arms in the picturesque village of Pytchley! With a reputation for delicious food, a fantastic drinks menu, and a truly welcoming atmosphere, it’s easy to see why customers love this special place. We popped in to see Philip who told us:
The Overstone Arms is family-run by myself, my dad, and my sister with a hardworking team behind us. We all have a passion for hospitality and have been proudly serving our customers and supporting the local community for almost three years. We are originally from Scotland, and the family has made Pytchley home now, and we have been made to feel very welcome.Philip - The Overstone Arms
My journey into food began in Scotland at just 13 years old, helping with the family’s catering business in East Ayrshire where I worked weekends making sandwiches and rolls for lorry drivers, this was inspired by my dad, who was a lorry driver himself. That early start sparked a lifelong passion for hospitality, and I’ve worked in everything from the RAF Club in Scotland, a Chinese restaurant, a bingo hall and equestrian centre snack bar, and even running hotel catering and large-scale events. I had my own chip shop too! Along the way, I gained a wealth of experience – including education and knowledge of meat quality and cooking, and all of it has shaped the way I cook today. My mum taught me how to make the perfect steak, and after a brief stint behind the wheel of a lorry myself, it was clear the kitchen was where I belonged.
I ran another pub which became award-winning and gained rave reviews, and when The Overstone Arms needed new management, I saw the perfect opportunity to bring the pub back to life. And what a pub it is! It boasts a beautiful outdoor space known as the Secret Garden which we have recently refurbished and reopened, complete with a pizza oven, outdoor bar, and breath-taking countryside views. Along with our large beer garden, it’s the perfect spot to soak up the sunshine, enjoy a refreshing drink, and catch up with friends and loved ones.
Our bar area is cosy with an open fire, and the restaurant is a warm and welcoming space with a menu packed with hearty, traditional pub favourites, all homemade with love. From the ever-popular lasagne to my legendary steaks, the food speaks for itself. There’s also a great garden menu offering simple, family-friendly options like sausage and chips for just £4.50 which is perfect for those days when you just don’t want to cook.
We’re proud to be family-friendly and dog-friendly, welcoming a vibrant mix of locals, loyal regulars, and visitors from near and far. With a reputation for great food and glowing reviews, we’ve become a real destination for those who love quality pub dining. Local pubs like ours play an important role in the community, and we’re passionate about offering a warm welcome and a friendly face to everyone who walks through the door.
Whether it’s bank holiday family fun, quiz night, charity fundraisers, or our ever-popular bonfire night celebrations, there’s always something happening here. And with Monday Club where you can get 3 courses for under £20, and Thursday steak nights where you’ll get 20% off any steak, there are great reasons to visit throughout the week as well as at weekends.
We are a great team of 14 dedicated staff, many of whom have been with the pub long-term, and we work hard behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Our passion, energy, and commitment are what make The Overstone Arms such a memorable place to visit.
The pub is also available for affordable private hire, offering a flexible and welcoming space for birthdays, weddings, or any special occasion. The team is always on hand to help you create a celebration to remember.
Running the pub keeps us on our toes, there’s always something to do, whether it’s looking after the garden, placing orders, organising rotas, cooking, serving, or everything in between. But we wouldn’t have it any other way! We serve food all day, every day, and our bar is well-stocked with something for everyone including alcohol-free options and a fantastic gin collection and even a dedicated whiskey bar.
The best thing about the job is definitely the people. We love getting to know everyone, watching families grow, and seeing the next generation come through the doors, it’s what makes the job so special.
Whether you’re a local, a visitor, or passing through the area, make sure to pop into The Overstone Arms, there’s a warm welcome, a refreshing drink, and a delicious meal waiting for you!
