Caroline Ridge Counselling - Kettering

Caroline from Caroline Ridge Counselling

Everyone faces challenges in life, from everyday stresses to difficult experiences that can feel overwhelming. Sometimes, talking to someone who listens without judgement and offers a safe and confidential space to explore feelings, and find ways forward can make all the difference.

In Burton Latimer, Caroline Ridge Counselling provides exactly that. Caroline is warm, welcoming, and passionate about helping people, with her practice built on empathy, experience, and a genuine desire to support others.

I have always been interested in people and helping others and have a background of working in HR and training which reinforced this passion. After having therapy myself at a challenging time in my life, I realised how powerful it could be, and it inspired me to support others in the same way. A lot of it is about self-acceptance and believing in yourself, it can change your life for the better.

I completed my counselling training and qualified in 2022, balancing my studies and placements with family life. I gained valuable experience in a wide range of settings including hospitals and schools, MIND and other charities. One placement especially close to my heart was with a charity supporting women with extreme sickness during pregnancy. Having been through this myself, I understand the toll it can take on both physical and mental health during and after pregnancy. I’ve also delivered counselling through Employee Assistance programmes, supporting people in the workplace.

This combined experience gave me the confidence to set up my own business, offering one-to-one counselling sessions both in person and online. I use a comfortable and welcoming therapy room in Burton Latimer, with views over a peaceful garden, which helps to put people at ease from the moment they arrive. I offer flexible times, including evenings and weekends, making support accessible to more people.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a recognised professional body that ensures counsellors meet high standards of training and ethics. I’m also committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertake training in topical and specialist areas.

My clients range from teenagers to adults, with more men now coming forward for counselling, which is positive. I also work creatively with young people aged 11 and above, using techniques that help them open up to explore their thoughts and feelings. Every session is tailored to the individual, drawing on different therapies and approaches depending on what’s needed.

I have supported people with a wide range of issues, including bereavement, phobias, exam stress, pregnancy and baby loss, relationship difficulties, anxiety related conditions, and my specialist area of pregnancy sickness and fear of sickness. No problem is too small, if something is affecting your wellbeing, it matters.

The most rewarding part of my work is seeing people grow, change, and feel better. It’s so rewarding seeing the progress people make. Helping them to accept themselves and feel happier is what it’s all about.

Reaching out for help can feel scary, but there’s really no shame in it. More people are talking about mental health and therapy these days, and that’s so positive. Counselling gives you a safe space to focus on yourself, work through things, and be listened to by someone you can trust. And don’t worry, there are always tissues handy, and it’s completely ok to let your emotions out.

If you need help, just reach out, you’ll never regret trying. It’s always going to be a better option than feeling alone. Counselling isn’t about quick fixes, it’s about building trust, taking small steps, and finding the tools to cope with life more positively. And for many, it’s a life-changing experience.
