RK Custom Printz and Melts – Corby Indoor Mall

Have you discovered Corby Indoor Mall yet? It’s a welcoming place full of creativity and is home to over 20 independent businesses, all run by talented local people. There is something for everyone!

Take a wander around the shops in the mall and you will find Katie, owner or RK Custom Printz and Melts which she runs with the support of her sister Danielle, and mum Linda. This little shop smells incredible and is full of wax melts, personalised gifts and homeware, bespoke cleaning products and more!

The business is fairly new and is coming up for its 1st birthday which is exciting! The 
past year has gone so quickly and it’s brilliant to see how far we have come. What started off with me making personalised items at home with my heat press to sell at local car boot sales, has grown into me now having my own shop which is something I’m very proud of.

At RK Custom Printz and Melts, we make keepsake gifts that spark memories and bring smiles to people’s faces. This includes printing photos and quotes onto slate tiles, and we also create bespoke keyrings, coasters, jewellery, car air fresheners and more! Custom-made gift hampers are also available, which make perfect presents for those special occasions such as birthdays, Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas.

My sister Danielle has a great talent for all things scented and loves making wax melts, so we decided to start making those to sell at the car boot sales too, which proved to be popular. It was at a car boot sale where we were lucky enough to meet the manager of Corby Indoor Mall, Joe. He was so friendly to us and recognised our passion for the business and talent for what we do, and when he offered me a space at the indoor mall, I couldn’t resist!

We have something for every budget and taste here. Our wax melts cater for everyone including trending fragrances which the teenagers love, luxury scents which make great gifts, and even a range targeted at men which smell like popular aftershaves. We also sell bath bombs, wax melt burners, room sprays and lots more, another reason why the shop smells so good!

Having a shop at the Indoor Mall is great because of all the other small businesses operating from here, we are like-minded people who recommend each other. We always help each other out where we can, it’s a lovely community, and everyone is welcome.

Children enjoy coming in to spend their pocket money, it’s so colourful here with all the wax melts on display, and with the lovely smell too, I don’t think they can resist. We have regular customers as well who pop in to order bespoke gifts and pick up scented items. We’re always on hand if they need advice on our products, especially recommending items that could make the perfect gift.

I’m always looking for new product ideas and ways to grow the business, and I’ve recently introduced some of the wax melt scents into unique cleaning products which are proving to be very popular. The range includes sink and toilet fizzers, carpet powders and scented vacuum cleaner discs. Some of the aromas are also available as diffusers too – there is a lot to see, smell, and buy in our little shop.

We take our products out to local events around the area including craft and artisan fairs and some sports events which are great for getting our brand out there to reach new customers, and to build new connections too. We also support local charity events and get involved with fundraising activities, which is something we are passionate about.

I love having my own business, it fits well around my family life and my other commitments too, and it’s great having my lovely mum and sister helping out too, they are a great support.

Like everything, there are challenges along the way, and I’m learning all the time with every day being different. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow the business and seeing where it takes us!Katie - RK Custom Printz and Melts
