Treat Box – Desborough

We love the stories behind small businesses and hearing how people have made their hobby into something they can share with others, and today we have a feature about the brilliant Treat Box, a shop filled with delicious delights, all made with love! You can find this sweet local business on Station Road in Desborough.

Set up by local talented lady Samantha, Treat Box opened its doors in August 2023 and has become a popular spot with a variety of customers in the town. We popped over to visit to see the business in action and to have a catch up with Samantha.

I have a passion for cooking and baking, and it all began in my kitchen at home. I started taking orders and delivering my creations locally and was excited to see how enthusiastic my customers were, especially when I introduced afternoon tea deliveries one Mother’s Day.

I started thinking about having my own bakery in my hometown, and when a premises became available, I was keen to make my thoughts and dreams into a reality. My background in the food industry has given me a wealth of skills, knowledge, and experience, and with my passion for creating delicious food, both sweet and savoury, along with both of my children growing up and reaching double digits, it felt like the right time!

Running Treat Box fits around my busy family life, and they are always happy to test out my bakes, especially when I’ve been creative with recipes. My cookie pies have become the signature bake for the business and have earned a devoted following! I bake everything fresh in store, and alongside the cookie pies there is an array of cakes and pastries available to grab and go, or eat in.

For Easter I have launched cheesecake filled chocolate eggs, an indulgent twist on the traditional Easter eggs, and something you probably won’t find in the big supermarkets! This is why shopping local is so good because you can find different products that are all made with love and care, and because we get to know our customers, we know what they will like.

We also have a selection of hot and cold drinks available at the shop, and delicious creamy milkshakes for that sweet indulgence. I’ve recently introduced bubble waffles to the menu which are an ice-cream based treat which are as Instagram-worthy as they are delicious!

There is a nice business community in Desborough, and I’ve been welcomed to the town by many of the small businesses operating here. We are supportive and always happy to recommend each other, ask advice, or just have a chat. I am so grateful for the support of my loyal customers too, they are of all ages, after school is always a busy time in the shop with kids popping in for milkshakes and more.

After finding my feet with the business, and it growing in popularity, I’m looking forward to seeing where it will take me. Please come and visit us, I’m sure there will be something on the menu to tantalise your taste buds!Samantha - Treat Box
