Tilly Mae’s - Rothwell

After hearing about a good vibes’ café, bar, and restaurant with amazing events and free venue hire opening in Rothwell, we couldn’t wait to visit and meet the team behind this brilliant small business.

Tillie Mae's business owner

Whether you're local to Rothwell, or visiting from the surrounding areas, pop in to experience the fantastic food, drink, and warm hospitality from Declan, Tristine, and the team.

Located on Market Hill in the town, Tilly Mae's is approaching its first birthday, and with it quickly becoming popular in Rothwell and the surrounding areas too, there is much to celebrate. The business, named after the owners' daughter Tilly Mae (who also turns one in July), has flourished in its first year and there is lots more to come!

We were once regular customers of the previous restaurant and bar here, and when the space became available, we seized the opportunity to create something special, and bring our own vision for it to life. Tristine’s passion for hospitality and my business background makes us the perfect team!

It was hard work getting everything ready, and we loved styling the place with décor that perfectly complements the vibrant atmosphere. Whether you're dropping in for a casual coffee, a delicious meal, or a night out with friends, Tilly Mae's offers a welcoming and stylish environment. We have some great spots for Instagram perfect photos! Our menu is diverse with a variety of Italian, tapas, and mixed grill options. We cater to all tastes, with competitive prices to suit all budgets. Our café also provides takeaway options, ensuring there's something for everyone, even when you’re in a rush.

Our vision for the business to help it stand out means that we are committed to hosting a variety of events. From comedy nights and drag shows to tribute acts, bottomless brunches, and performances by local bands and DJs, there's always something exciting happening here. We love providing ways to bring people together, and we are keen to support local talent too. Bringing unique experiences to the community is evident in the events we plan. We like to be creative and even hired a fire dancer for one of our bank holiday events, which went down very well!

Running Tilly Mae's is a family affair. Since having our daughter, we have got used to juggling the demands of running the business along with family life and other work commitments. We’ve managed to create a great work life balance with the help of our family who we couldn’t do it without. Tilly Mae herself loves visiting the café and bar, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere.

As well as being a great place to eat, drink, and socialise, we have space for events that can be hired out to the local community at no cost. We’ve recently held parties, christenings, and other events, and feel good that we can offer this to support people during challenging financial times.

The first year has gone so quickly, and we can’t believe how much we have achieved! We have lots of plans for future projects including installing pizza ovens in the beautiful outdoor courtyard, so we can provide even more delicious food for our customers.

With our first birthday just around the corner, we are having a party to celebrate, and everyone is invited. We don’t want to give too much away, but there will be fire dancers, DJs, and lots of surprises on the night! It’s on 19 July at 8:30pm, and it’s free to come along and join in the fun. We hope to see you there!
