New Local Plan for North Northamptonshire
The Local Plan Scoping consultation sought views on what we could include in the North Northamptonshire Local Plan and how future local plan engagement should be undertaken.
We are preparing a new local plan for the area to guide decisions in the period up to 2045.
The North Northamptonshire Local Plan will replace the North Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy Local Plan (Part 1) and the Part 2 Local Plans which were adopted for the former Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough and East Northamptonshire areas.
Notice of intention to commence local plan preparation
The council has published a notice of intention to commence local plan preparation in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026.
Local Plan timetable
A local plan timetable has been prepared in line with the relevant Regulations and national guidance. This sets out the key stages and anticipated timescales for preparing the North Northamptonshire Local Plan.
North Northamptonshire Local Plan scoping consultation
The Scoping consultation offered suggestions on what we could include in the Local Plan and how we should approach future local plan engagement. This consultation was an opportunity for all those with an interest in how North Northamptonshire will develop and look in the future to have their say.
The consultation also included a Call for Sites, inviting landowners, developers, and individuals to suggest sites for future development (allocation) within the context of the North Northamptonshire Local Plan.

The consultation ran from 20 May 2026 until 1 July 2026.

Next steps
A summary of the scoping consultation responses will be published shortly, and feedback received will inform the next stage in the plan-making process which is the consultation on the Proposed Local Plan Content and Evidence, scheduled for October to November 2026.
