Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) were introduced by the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act. They provide additional guidance on matters covered by Development Plan Documents.
Prior to 2004 Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) documents were issued.
They are not part of the statutory Development Plan, but form part of the Local Development Framework, and will be an important consideration in determining planning applications.
