Hi Street! campaign

North Northamptonshire is home to many small towns which make great destinations for shopping, socialising, eating out and treating yourself.

From charming shopping streets in Higham Ferrers, Oundle and Thrapston, to traditional town centres in Kettering and Wellingborough, and modern shopping precincts like Corby, there is something for everyone ready to be discovered.

You’ll find a variety of independent businesses across the area selling unique and interesting products, serving delicious food and drink, and offering health, beauty and wellbeing services.

Local businesses are run by creative, talented people, and often sell unique products that you can’t find elsewhere or online. Shopping and buying services locally will give you the feel-good factor for supporting an independent business and will help boost the local economy, making a real difference to the area you live.

Support local business

Along with visiting local towns and using local businesses to buy their products and services you can:

  • follow their social media – like, share and tag your friends
  • leave a positive review online – it only takes a few minutes and the benefits to the business can be huge
  • visit markets and events with local traders
  • buy vouchers or gift cards – help your loved ones discover them too
  • tell people about them – word of mouth is a very powerful tool

UK Shared Prosperity Fund

Our Hi Street campaign has been made possible by the UK government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund which is a central pillar of the Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.

The fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, as well as people and skills.
