Anti-social behaviour on council estates
Tackling anti-social behaviour on our estates is a high priority - it's critical you feel safe in your home and neighbourhood.
We know ASB can have a serious impact on your life and we focus on safeguarding vulnerable residents. This means we will use early intervention and use legal action if appropriate, using a full range of tools and powers available to us.
We also work closely with partners such as the police, statutory services and specialist agencies to problem-solve and find lasting solutions.
Report it
Always call 999 if you or someone else is in immediate danger or if a crime is in progress. For non-urgent crimes please contact the police by calling 101 or by reporting it online.
Anti-social behaviour may include the following:
- aggressive begging
- drug abuse
- gangs
- harassment, intimidation and threatening behaviour both verbal and physical
- hate crime
- illegal or immoral use of a property
- neighbour nuisance
- youth ASB
- criminal damage (excluding graffiti)
Dealing with your report
After reporting, we will:
- respond quickly - we will contact you within 2 working days of your initial complaint
- be clear and honest - we will explain what action we can and can't take, and provide you with options for support or signpost you to other agencies
- work with you - if we open an investigation, we will agree an action plan with you
- keep you updated - we will contact you every 2 weeks (or at an agreed frequency) and keep your action plan up-to-date
- work in partnership - we will engage with all relevant internal teams, the police, and other agencies to prevent and respond to ASB
- pursue achievable solutions - we will pursue solutions to ASB that avoid evictions wherever possible, prioritising approaches that promote community cohesion
