Minor adaptations
You can make some changes to your home to help you manage everyday tasks and stay independent. This is often referred to as ‘home adaptations'.
Minor adaptations are works which cost less than £1,000.
Examples are:
- grab rails
- stair rails
- small steps
- lever taps
- raising electrical sockets
- small ramps
- fixed shower seats
These are free of charge through your housing provider or, for owner occupiers and private rental tenants, through the Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES).
To request a minor adaptation for a child or young person under the age of 18, contact the child's paediatrician.
