North Northamptonshire Council Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The North Northamptonshire Council (Weldon Village) (20mph speed limit) Order 2026

The purpose of this Order is to improve road safety and the quality of the local environment by reducing vehicle speeds within Weldon Village Northamptonshire.

The introduction of a 20 miles per hour speed limit is intended to create a safer and more pleasant environment for all road users, especially pedestrians, cyclists, and vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.

This proposal supports the Council’s wider objectives to promote sustainable travel, encourage walking and cycling, and reduce the risk and severity of road traffic collisions.

The Council considers that the restrictions imposed by this Order are both necessary and proportionate for the purposes of:

• Avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the roads or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising (Section 1(1)(a), Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984); and
• Preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the roads run (Section 1(1)(f), Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984).

On lengths of Bakers Lane, Bramblewood Road, Bridge Street, Chapel Road, Church Street, Church View, Church Walk, Corby Road, Dash Farm Close, Deeneside, Dibbin Close, Gander Close, Gretton Road, Hall's Close, High Street, Kettering Road, Larratt Road, Orchard Close, Oundle Road, The Poplars, Roman Close, Rose Avenue, School Lane, Singlehurst Close, Stamford Road, Water Lane and Walnut Close, Weldon, as more particularly described in the Schedule to the Order.
