Gambling or gaming permits and notifications
Types of permit
Gambling permits allow premises to provide facilities for gambling such as gaming machines.
Gaming machines are categorised according to their maximum stakes and prizes. Each permit type has specific limits on the number and category of gaming machines and types of gaming that can take place.
We are responsible for issuing gambling permits for:
- alcohol licensed premises
- club gaming permits
- club machine permits
- unlicensed family entertainment centres
- prize gaming permits
Permits last 10 years and require an application fee. Some permits also require an annual fee to be paid. For prices, view our licensing fees and charges.
Renewal
You can apply for the permit to be renewed within 6 months of the expiry date, but no later than 2 months before the expiry date.
The renewal procedure is the same as making a new application.
Change your permit
Changes can be made to:
- vary a permit
- transfer a permit
- change name or address
- replace a permit - left or loss
