Small society lottery or raffle

Fundraising, raffles, and lotteries are all forms of gambling and you must follow the rules for the type of lottery you plan to run, or you may be breaking the law.

There are various types of lottery some of which are dealt with by the Gambling Commission.

Registrations for small society lotteries are dealt with by us, these are lotteries which:

• sell less than £20,000 in tickets from a single lottery, or sell less than £250,000 in  a calendar year
• you plan to sell tickets to the public in a lottery, outside of an event or private club

Returns

Once registered you must submit a return to us following each lottery held and by no later than 3 months after the date of the lottery draw.
