Energy grants and support

Powering change grant scheme

North Northamptonshire Council has launched a new initiative to help local businesses and community groups reduce their energy use and environmental impact.

The programme is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and is designed to support organisations to:

  • measure and understand their carbon footprint
  • develop their own Carbon Reduction Plans (CRPs)
  • access funding to help adopt more sustainable practices
  • save money on energy bills

The council has appointed Urban Foresight to deliver the programme in partnership with SmartCarbon.

Support available

Participating organisations will receive:

  • free access to a user-friendly online platform to measure their carbon footprint
  • guidance to create a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP)
  • a series of practical workshops to build knowledge and support implementation
  • opportunities to apply for further grant funding

The programme aims to support:

  • 50 businesses and 25 community groups to complete carbon footprint assessments
  • 20 businesses and 15 community groups to develop CRPs aligned with public procurement standards

This will improve their chances of securing public and private sector contracts and support progress towards net zero targets.
