Primary school place offers
Find out where your child has been allocated a school place
All parents who applied for their child's place in Reception (or year 3 place in a junior school) by the deadline of 15 January 2026 will receive an offer of a secondary school place on Thursday 16 April 2026. If you applied online via the Parent Portal, you can log into your account from 00:01 on Thursday 16 April 2026 to see your allocation. Emails will be sent to all applicants from 8am on Thursday 16 April.
After you receive the offer of a primary, infant or junior school place for your child
If the school is:
- within Northamptonshire - we will assume that you have accepted this offer unless you let us know that it is no longer required
- situated outside of Northamptonshire - you should contact the school directly to check whether you need to formally accept the place for your child
If you have made alternative arrangements for your child's schooling please let us know as soon as possible that the place is no longer required and why by emailing [email protected].
Options if you are not happy with the school place offered
For a small number of families we regret that we have been unable to offer your child a place at your preferred school. When there are more children applying for a school than there are places available (known as the published admission number or PAN), the oversubscription criteria are used to determine which children should be allocated a place.
If your child has not been offered a place at your preferred school(s), it means that the school filled up to its PAN with children who had a higher priority than your child within the oversubscription criteria.

Remain on a waiting list
When applications for school places are refused, the children’s names are added to the school’s waiting list automatically. Waiting lists for all community and voluntary controlled schools are administered by the School Admissions Team for all year groups and they will be kept until the end of the summer term. In addition, the School Admissions Team administers the waiting lists for some OAA schools, at their request.
To add your child's name to a waiting list for a school outside of Northamptonshire, you should contact the Admissions team in the local authority where the school is situated.
If a place becomes available at your preferred school
Any places that become available at after the first round of allocations (16 April) or places that still remain will be re-allocated on a monthly basis within the additional rounds of allocation.
All those on the waiting list, those who have submitted late applications and those who have submitted an appeal will be considered against the oversubscription criteria for the school.
If you have been successful in gaining a place in one of these rounds, you will be notified by email. You do not need to contact us; we will let you know.
Waiting list
The School Admissions Team will hold a waiting list for Reception and Year 3 for every mainstream secondary school in North Northamptonshire until 31 August 2026. From 1 September, School Admissions will transfer waiting lists to the OAA schools which manage their own in-year admissions who will then maintain their own waiting list until at least 31 December in the Offer year. All mainstream schools must maintain their waiting lists until at least 31 December in the Offer year. The School Admissions team will retain a waiting list for all OAA schools opting into the in-year co-ordination scheme for the whole of the academic year.
Request a place at a school that still has places available
Some schools have places remaining. To find out which schools have places available, download the breakdown document above relevant to your area of the North Northamptonshire.
If you wish to be considered for a place at a school which still has places available, you should complete the late application online form.
If you have already received a school offer and choose to submit a further application, we will not contact you before processing the application. Any new school place will automatically be allocated and any original school place will be reallocated to another child.
Should you wish to withdraw an unprocessed application prior to a reallocation round, please email [email protected] to advise this, providing your child's full name, date of birth and details of the application you wish to withdraw.
The allocation process can take several weeks, depending on how many applications are received.
There is no need to contact us after completing the form, we will contact you with the outcome of the application.
How places are allocated
Any available places will be reallocated on a monthly basis within the additional rounds of allocation taking place between May and July 2026. Places are not allocated on a first come, first served basis.
If there are more requests than there are places available, these will be allocated using the schools' oversubscription admission criteria. Therefore, there is no guarantee that a place will be allocated. You will not be able to decline your existing offer of a place on this basis.
Appeal the decision to refuse your child a school place
You have the right to appeal against the decision not to offer your child a place at any of the schools where your child has been refused a place. If you choose to appeal you will need to complete an online appeal form, or request a paper appeal form in writing from the Admissions Authority of the relevant school.
Read our Primary, Infant and Junior school allocations appeals for September 2026 for further information.
Late applications
Late applications are applications received after 15 January 2026 and these are processed in additional rounds of allocation. There is a deadline for applications to be submitted by to be included in each round. Each reallocation process can take a number of weeks, depending on how many applications are received.
Offers will be sent by email to all late applicants who apply online. We will only inform parents of children on a waiting list if we are able to offer a place. Otherwise, their child's name will remain on the waiting list for the next round.
There is no need to contact us after completing a late application form, or on the process start date - we will contact you once an offer has been made.
