Primary, Infant and Junior school allocations appeals for September 2024

Parents have the right to appeal against the decision not to offer their child a place at any of the schools where they have been refused a place. If parents choose to appeal, they will need to either:

  1. complete the online appeal form if North Northamptonshire council’s (NNC’s) democratic services co-ordinates the appeals for the school, or
  2. request a paper appeal form in writing from the admission authority of the relevant school if NNC (the local authority) do not co-ordinate their appeals.

Parents may appeal against the decision not to offer a place at more than one school but must have applied for and been refused a place for their child at the school in the first instance.

Parents should not decline their existing offer of a place on the basis that an appeal has been submitted. If the appeal is successful, the existing offer will be withdrawn.

How Primary places were allocated

Details of how the places were allocated at each Primary, Infant and Junior school and of which schools still have places available, are on our website. If parents would like their child to be considered for a place at a school which still has places available, they should complete a late primary application form. Alternatively, a paper application form can be requested by emailing [email protected]. These applications will be considered in our rounds of re-allocations which run from May to July. For information about cut-off dates for these rounds, please see the our website.

Waiting lists

Waiting lists will be held for Reception for all Primary and Infant schools and for Year 3 for all Junior schools, until 31 December 2024. If parents wish to add their child to the waiting list for a school for which they have applied and been refused a place, they should email: [email protected] or write to School Admissions at NNC.  Parents must include the child’s name, date of birth and the name/s of the school/s for which they would like to be added to the waiting list. Parents will be contacted if, and when, a place can be offered from the waiting list.

Rounds of re-allocation

Any places that are still available, or become available for Reception or Year 3 places, will be allocated in our rounds of re-allocation between May and July 2024. The cut-off dates for these rounds can be found on the our website  If there are more requests or applications than there are places available, places will be allocated according to the schools’ oversubscription criteria. Parents should not decline an existing offer of a place on the basis that a further application has been made for other schools. This will not affect the chance of a place at a preferred school being allocated. If it is possible to offer a place from the waiting list or to a new application, the existing offer will be withdrawn at that point.
