North Northamptonshire Council Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
North Northamptonshire Council (Stoke Doyle Road, Oundle) (30 miles per hour speed limit) Order 2026
Statement of reasons
North Northamptonshire Council proposes to make the above Order under Sections 82, 83, and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
The purpose of the Order is to extend the 30 miles per hour speed limit on Stoke Doyle Road, Oundle, Northamptonshire, as described in the Schedule below.
This measure is considered necessary for the following reasons:
- To avoid danger to persons or other road users, or to prevent the likelihood of such danger arising
- To ensure consistency with speed limits in the surrounding highway network and reflect the road environment appropriately
- To contribute to improved road safety for vulnerable road users, including children and the elderly
The proposed 30mph limit aligns with national guidance for speed limits in built-up areas and forms part of the council’s broader approach to enhancing safety and promoting sustainable travel within residential developments.
