Draft order P2125

Statement of reasons P2125

North Northamptonshire Council Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The North Northamptonshire Council (Brook Street, Raunds) (Prohibition of waiting) Order 2026

Statement of reasons

North Northamptonshire Council proposes to extend the existing prohibition of waiting at any time (double yellow line) restrictions on Brook Street, Raunds pursuant to its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The proposed extension is considered necessary in the interests of road safety. The restrictions are intended to prevent parking in the vicinity of an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing point, thereby maintaining adequate visibility and intervisibility between pedestrians and approaching vehicles. This will assist pedestrians in crossing the carriageway safely and reduce the likelihood of conflict between road users.

The proposal will also preserve clear sightlines for motorists, facilitate the safe manoeuvring and passage of vehicles, and contribute to the safe and expeditious movement of traffic along the road.

The Council is therefore satisfied that the proposed restrictions are necessary to:

  • avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road
  • facilitate the passage of traffic on the road
  • preserve or improve the amenities of the area through the promotion of safer highway conditions
