Youth offer small grants scheme

Local organisations and community groups are invited to apply for grants of £500 to £2,500 to deliver projects that make a positive difference to the lives of young people.

This funding aims to help local organisations create opportunities for young people to thrive, build confidence and reach their full potential.

Guidance

We are looking to support projects that:

  • foster friendship, belonging and inclusion, widening access to opportunities for all young people
  • support young people who are vulnerable, at risk, or experiencing isolation
  • promote youth voice and participation, enabling young people to help shape services and decisions that affect them
  • provide safe, welcoming spaces and positive activities that improve confidence, resilience and wellbeing
  • improve health and wellbeing, including emotional wellbeing, early help and preventative support
  • prevent harm through early intervention and proactive support
  • encourage voluntary youth action, leadership opportunities and the co-development of services with young people
  • help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour through positive engagement and community-based activities
  • strengthen partnership working and community collaboration to deliver joined-up support for young people

Funding may be used towards:

  • programme or activity costs directly related to the project
  • projects that support climate action and environmental sustainability
  • travel and transport costs associated with project activities and events in Northamptonshire
  • travel related to project delivery within North Northamptonshire or within 60 miles of the applicant's main address
  • the hire or purchase of equipment needed to deliver the project, including sports equipment
  • venue hire (excluding the organisation's own premises)
  • technical assistance or specialist support required to achieve project outcomes
  • festivals and community events taking place within North Northamptonshire
  • publicity and marketing costs (excluding political lobbying)
  • volunteer expenses directly linked to the project

Funding cannot be used for:

  • projects based and or delivered outside of the North Northamptonshire Council boundary
  • activities which are discriminatory, political, or are classed as religious conversion
  • where there is statutory funding provision available
  • costs that can be claimed back from elsewhere e.g. VAT
  • costs that are not auditable e.g. cash payments unsupported by an approved financial system
  • costs towards banking charges or repayment of debt
  • payments made to individual members of the applicant group or organisation who have a personal financial interest
  • retrospective costs e.g. activities completed, or costs incurred before the agreement of funding
  • programmes or activities which are considered the core activity of national or regional government, Government Departments, or arms-length body, such as health or education
  • gifts, prizes or alcohol
  • employee salaries, including on-costs
  • political lobbying
  • staff training or facilitation costs
  • works to facilities that are/should be subject to an insurance claim
  • projects or activities already funded by NNC grants within the past 12 months

Who can apply

Grants will be awarded to organisations delivering community-based activities for young people, including youth engagement, mentoring, safe spaces and early intervention programmes.

Eligible applicants include:

  • organisations working with young people aged 11 to 19 (or up to 25 years for young people with SEND)
  • community groups
  • voluntary and not-for-profit organisations
