Magna Park Corby Development Impact Fund
North Northamptonshire Council has launched a new grant fund to support communities affected by the Magna Park development near Corby.
Magna Park is a major development covering approximately 80 hectares on the outskirts of Corby and is expected to create more than 7,000 jobs.
The Development Impact Fund provides almost £895,000 of funding secured through Section 106 (S106) planning obligations linked to the development.
The first funding round opens in October 2026 and supports both revenue and capital projects. There will be one funding round during the 2026/27 financial year, with no maximum grant amount. Subject to funding availability, further rounds may be launched in future years.
The fund is open to a wide range of organisations, including community groups, town and parish councils, charities, voluntary organisations and relevant council services that support one or more of the fund's priority objectives.
Applications will be assessed through a competitive process, with final funding decisions made by a panel of councillors. The aim is to ensure funding is distributed fairly and delivers the greatest benefit to communities most affected by the development.
Eligibility
The fund is open to organisations that directly benefit the community, including community groups, parish councils, sports organisations, charities and council service areas.
Applicants must be constituted organisations and operate on a not-for-profit basis.
Schools, faith organisations and other public service providers may apply if they can clearly demonstrate wider community benefit and meet the fund requirements.
- have a registered address within North Northamptonshire, and/or demonstrate how the project will directly benefit communities affected by the Magna Park development
- be one of the following:
- Community group
- Town or parish council
- Sports association or club
- North Northamptonshire Council service
- Charity or voluntary organisation
- Public service provider
- meet the Minimum Financial Assistance requirements
- provide at least one quotation for proposed expenditure (or three quotations for items exceeding £5,000)
- submit accounts from the most recent financial year
Under the terms of the Section 106 agreement, the Development Impact Fund can support projects that help mitigate the impact of the Magna Park development and address increased demand on local services, facilities and infrastructure.
Eligible projects may include:
- provision, improvement, management and maintenance of community facilities
- enhancement, maintenance and inspection of public spaces for community use
- provision and improvement of community paths, wayfinding and signage
- improvements to community infrastructure and electronic communications networks
- community carbon reduction and carbon offsetting initiatives
- ecological education programmes and activities that increase awareness of local green and blue infrastructure
- community facilities and spaces that support environmental education and awareness activities
The fund cannot be used for:
- activities or works that are a statutory responsibility, such as grass verge mowing
- works that are considered a responsibility of the Developer that are otherwise provided for under the relevant planning permission(s) for the Development
- projects that have exclusive membership and do not allow anyone to join
- commercial or business venture which makes a profit
- religious promotion
- political activities or promotion
- replacement of facilities covered by an insurance claim
- land banking
- match funding is not required
- successful applicants will be required to enter into a grant agreement
- grants are normally paid following completion of the project and submission of a fully evidenced claim form
- grants must be paid into the organisation's designated bank account
- grants over £25,000 may be eligible for staged payments, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- projects must not begin before a funding decision has been made and approval has been confirmed
- incomplete applications will not be assessed
