The Definitive Map
The Northamptonshire Definitive Map (and Statement) are the legal records of all the county's public rights of way (footpaths, bridleways, restricted byways and byways open to all traffic).
Where you can view the Definitive Map
There are 2 ways to view the Definitive Map.
You can:
- make an appointment to view the map at One Angel Square - to arrange, please email [email protected]
- contact a parish council to arrange to view the map for their parish.
Changes to the Definitive Map
If you believe details contained within the Definitive Map or Statement are incorrect, you can apply for a Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO).
If this is confirmed, we will amend the map and statement to ensure it is a correct record of the public rights of way.
Rights of way
The Definitive Map is not intended for recreational use. To find out where rights of way are for recreational purposes, we recommend you purchase an Ordnance Survey Landranger or Explorer series map.
Alternatively you can view the approximate location of rights of way through our interactive mapping system.
Please note: The information displayed on the Interactive Map is not 'The Definitive Map' and cannot be used for legal purposes.
