North Northamptonshire Council (Kettering Road, Thrapston Road, and, Islip Road, Islip) (40 miles per hour speed limit) Order 2026
Statement of reasons
North Northamptonshire Council proposes to make the above Order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce a 40 miles per hour speed limit on the length of Kettering Road, Thrapston Road, and Islip Road, Islip as specified in the Schedule below and detailed in the Order.
The proposed speed limit is intended to provide a speed restriction that is more appropriate to the character and function of the road, improve road safety for all highway users, and facilitate the safe and efficient movement of traffic. The council considers that a 40mph limit will provide a more consistent and suitable speed environment for this section of road and contribute to reducing the risk of collisions.
The Council considers that introducing a 40 miles per hour speed necessary, proportionate, and in the interests of road safety and traffic management.
