The North Northamptonshire Council (Main Road, Wilby) (Prohibition of waiting) Order 2026

Statement of reasons

North Northamptonshire Council proposes to introduce additional prohibition of waiting at any time restrictions on Main Road, Wilby pursuant to its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The proposed restrictions are considered necessary in the interests of road safety and to facilitate the safe and expeditious movement of traffic. The restrictions are intended to prevent waiting at locations where parked vehicles may obstruct or impede the passage of traffic and adversely affect visibility for road users.

The proposals will assist in maintaining clear sightlines, facilitating the safe manoeuvring and passage of vehicles, and reducing the potential for conflict between road users.

The council considers that the proposed restrictions are appropriate for the purposes of:

• avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road and preventing the likelihood of such danger arising
• facilitating the passage on the road of vehicular and other traffic
• preserve or improve the amenities of the area through the promotion of safer highway conditions
