Issues with grass cutting, trees, hedges and weeds

Weeds

Our Highways team treat some paths and kerbs twice a year to stop weeds damaging the highway. They normally use a herbicide mix which is controlled and reviewed by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). If weeds get too big, they can be removed by hand or cut down.

In Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough urban areas, our teams carry out spot spraying and look to minimise chemical use where possible to help pollinators so only apply chemical treatment to weeds on footpaths.

In the East Northamptonshire area, town and parish councils deal with weeding and issues should be reported directly to them – this includes parks, open spaces and play areas.
