Council tax recovery

Bank account changes

We've recently changed our bank account for paying by bank transfer - we've sent out a letter to residents impacted in the Corby area (new account number 13629015 and sort code 20-17-68)

Liability orders

If a Magistrates’ Court has granted a liability order for the non-payment of council tax, it gives us a number of legal powers to collect the debt.

We can then collect the debt in various ways. At this stage, we may still agree on a special payment with you rather than use the liability order. If you break the arrangement, we will take further action.

Providing information

If we have a liability order, we will ask you to provide information about your employment and income.

After court, you may be sent a request for information about your employment and income details - which you must provide within 14 days.

This information helps us look at your financial circumstances and decide how to collect your outstanding council tax.
