Bulky item collections

Garden waste

We're working hard to get stickers sent out to everyone that renewed their garden waste subscription. If you haven't received yours don't worry - it'll get to you in early April and we'll still collect your garden waste in the meantime

A bulky collection service is available to all domestic properties where a maximum of 5 items can be collected for £35.

They must be left outside of your property on the kerbside bin collection point by 6:30am. We may agree an alternative easily accessible place, but we will not collect items from inside your property.

If it's a soft furnishing, it needs to be kept dry to stop it getting too heavy.

Items

These collections are for items that you would take with you when you move house - not fixtures, fittings, DIY or demolition waste

A bed base and a mattress are classed as two items. A dinner table is one item and a set of four chairs to go with it, will be classed as another item.

Example items we can take

Acceptable items include:

  • Bed (headboard, mattress and base count as three items)
  • Bookcase
  • Chest of drawers
  • Computer monitor or TV
  • Desk
  • Dining room chairs (four count as one item)
  • Fridges or freezers (they must be empty)
  • Sofa
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Washing machine or dryers
  • Cooker
  • Carpet (manageable rolls, no more than three and a half feet long)
  • Garden chairs or tables

Example items we can't take

When attending if items are considered too big or heavy for an operative we have the right to refuse the service. Please call us if unsure.

Examples of what we won't collect include:

  • Bathroom suites
  • Kitchen units
  • Window units or glass
  • Doors
  • Bricks, rubble or soil
  • Garden fencing and posts
  • Hazardous waste such as asbestos

What to do with items such as sofas, armchairs and padded chairs.

By law, upholstered items such as sofas, futons, armchairs and padded chairs now need to be collected separately. This means they may be collected on a different day to other items on your bulky collection.

If there are any rips in the item, please tape it up as the foam can't be exposed.

Please do not break up upholstered items  - they need to be intact. We can refuse to take upholstered items if they're heavily soiled.

Alternative disposal

Items in good condition could be donated to local charities for reuse or taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre for disposal.

Request a collection

We will only take the items listed and we won't issue a refund if we attend on the day and the items aren't there. You can cancel the collection 2 working days before for refund.

We will provide a collection date once you have submitted your form and made payment.
