Premises licence

Full and minor variations to your premises licence

If you wish to vary licensable activities or the hours they may be carried out, to add or remove conditions on your licence or to make a change to the structure or layout of your licenced premises, you must submit either a full or minor variation application.

A full variation is required for any changes that could potentially have an adverse effect on the promotion of the four licensing objectives and is always required if you want to add or increase hours for the sale or supply or alcohol.

A minor variation is an option for requesting minor changes to layout, reduction in activities or hours and other changes that you believe will have no impact on the licensing objectives. If you submit a minor variation, the authority may decide to accept it as served or may refuse it and request you to re-submit your application as a full variation.

You cannot vary a licence to transfer the licence to another person or to another premises or to substantially vary the premises to which it relates.

Apply

You will need:

  • to upload your premises licence
  • to provide a new plan if you are varying the layout or structure of the premises
  • to prepare and display a site notice (and also an advertisement for publication in the case of a full variation - templates are available when completing our application form)
  • a debit or credit card to make payment to submit your application

Next steps

Once submitted your application will be validated. Your application will not be accepted as served if you have not provided all of the information or correct documents we need to process your application.

We will contact you if it is deemed incomplete or rejected.

If your application is subject to public consultation and valid representation is received your application will be subject to a hearing. An officer will contact you if a hearing is required.
