Hypnotism performance licence

Hypnotism performance licence

Under the Hypnotism Act 1952 you must have authorisation from us if you wish to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public.

For costs, view our licensing fees and charges.

You need to:

  • apply 28 days before your performance
  • give details of your last 3 performances
  • disclose any previous refusals of a hypnotism permit or convictions related to staged hypnotism
  • provide a copy of your public liability insurance

If your application is granted it will be awarded with conditions that must be adhered to. Please see the standard conditions we apply to all licences.

If you stage hypnotism for entertainment purposes without a licence or break any of the conditions on your permit, you could be fined up to £1,000.
