Wellbeing Walks

Our Wellbeing Walks are volunteer led, fun, free and friendly local walking groups open to all ages and abilities. There are currently over 20 walks across North Northamptonshire and we are actively looking to set up even more. The walks are in a variety of locations and range in length so there is a suitable walk for everyone.

Walking is a low-impact activity that is easy on your joints and can be done at any age or fitness level. Walking has many health and wellbeing benefits including:

  • maintaining a healthy weight
  • reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • improving your mood
  • boosting self-esteem
  • connecting you to nature which is proven to reduce stress, lower your blood pressure and boost immune function

A significant benefit of joining a walking group is the social aspect. Our Wellbeing Walks can help you meet new people, build friendships and provide a sense of community.

Whether you are looking to improve your physical health and mental wellbeing, or simply looking to meet new people, a walking club can provide a supportive and enjoyable environment to achieve your goals.

Attending and booking

Everyone is welcome on the walks, no matter your age or ability. Children under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.

There is no need to book, we just recommend that you arrive 10 minutes early for your first walk to complete a registration form.

Dogs

We recommend that dogs are kept under close control at all times. This doesn’t necessarily mean on a lead, but we ask that dogs are kept on a lead if you can't rely on their obedience.

The usual rules apply regarding fouling. We ask all dog owners to be respectful of other walkers and to remember that not all people are dog lovers.
