School admission arrangements
The School Admissions Team is co-ordinating a consultation on the proposed changes to the admission arrangements for own admission authority mainstream schools in the authority for the September 2026 intakes. Find out which schools are consulting.
We are now consulting on the proposed term dates for community and voluntary controlled schools for the 2026-27 academic year. View the proposed term dates and find out more about the consultation, including how to comment.
School admission arrangements are determined annually by the school’s admission authority, even if they have not changed from the previous year.
We are the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools in the area. Other types of schools have their own admission authority:
- The governing body is the admission authority for foundation and voluntary aided schools
- The academy trust is the admission authority for academies, free schools and UTCs
Admission authorities of schools wishing to make changes to their admission arrangements must publicly consult on the changes before determination.
