Your Voice Matters… consultation launched on changes to town and parish councils

Residents, community groups and stakeholders across North Northamptonshire are being encouraged to take part in the second stage of a review of community governance in the area.
The latest consultation looks at draft recommendations for future local governance arrangements for town and parish councils and parish areas (but not North Northamptonshire Council) across the local area.
The review is being undertaken by the council to ensure that community governance arrangements continue to reflect local identities and interests and provide effective and convenient local governance.
The stage two consultation follows an initial consultation, during which residents and stakeholders were invited to submit proposals and comments on town and parish council arrangements. Feedback received has been considered in developing a set of draft recommendations, which are now available for public consultation.
Example of recommendations being put forward for various town and parish councils and parish areas include changing the number of Councillors on some councils and altering or moving existing boundaries.

We received a range of views during the first stage of the review, and those comments have informed the draft recommendations now being consulted on. I would encourage everyone with an interest in their local community to take a look at the proposals and let us know what they think before the consultation closes.
Anyone wishing to comment on any of the recommendations can do so via the council’s consultation hub. The consultation closes on Sunday 4 October 2026.

Following the close of the consultation, all representations will be reviewed before final recommendations are considered and a decision is made on any proposed changes.
Where approved, changes would be implemented through a Reorganisation Order in accordance with the statutory Community Governance Review process.
