As part of Armed Forces Week (22 - 28 June) representatives from North Northamptonshire Council have come together to pay tribute to the women and men who protect the United Kingdom and those who came before them.

Earlier today, Armed Forces Day flags were raised at all four of the council offices, with a small flag raising ceremony taking place at the Corby Cube attended by representatives from across the council, guests include Deputy Lieutenant Shah, the Leader of the Council and representatives from across the council.

Armed Forces Week is a chance for individuals and organisations to show support for all those who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets. Celebrations begin on Monday 22 June when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and landmarks across the country.

It is always a privilege to attend a ceremony to commemorate the start of Armed Forces Week and this year was no exception.

This week gives us an opportunity to stop and pay tribute to the exceptional men and women from across the Armed Forces community. But, it’s not just about today or this week, we are committed to supporting the whole of the Armed Forces Community all year around.
Cllr Martin Griffiths, Leader of North Northamptonshire Council

The council is a proud member of the Armed Forces Covenant and was awarded the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award for the support towards the Armed Forces community.
