Kettering and Wellingborough - get ready for food waste collections

North Northamptonshire Council will start delivering bins to residents in Kettering and Wellingborough areas ahead of food waste collections starting in the areas from Autumn.
Two food caddies will be delivered to households in the coming weeks - a smaller bin for inside the property and a larger bin to be placed out for collection. Residents in Kettering and Wellingborough areas should not put their food waste caddy out for collection yet.
A leaflet will be included which provides more detail on the service and what can go in the caddy, plus there is information on the council’s website.
Once the service is running (anticipated to be from early Autumn, with an exact start date to be confirmed), caddies can be placed out for collection on resident’s normal bin day and an announcement will be made soon on when collections will start.
Larger blocks of flats (over 5 properties) will form part of a roll out at a later date.

In the meantime, keep your new caddies safe and take a look at the information about what can be placed in your new bins.
As part of the rollout of food waste collections in Kettering and Wellingborough, the Waste team will be at the following locations:
- Family Fun Day at Castlefields Park, Wellingborough - 12 August from 12 noon to 4pm
- Swansgate Shopping Centre, Wellingborough - 14 August from 10am to 4pm
- Council offices, Bowling Green Road, Kettering - 19 and 24 August from 10am to 4pm
- Family Fun Day at North Park, Kettering - 26 August from 11:15am to 4:30pm
Weekly food waste collections already take place in Corby and East Northants areas and residents in those areas should continue to use their food waste bins as normal.
Funding for new food waste recycling collections has been provided the Department of Farming, Environment and Rural Affairs.
