Parents of children with special educational needs, along with SEND professionals, are invited to attend a series of workshops to help build support networks, and share their thoughts and experiences.

The free workshops will focus on updates from the Local Area Partnership (LAP), Ordinarily Available Provision (the everyday support that mainstream schools, early years settings and colleges must provide for all children), and preparing for adulthood.

Hosted by the North Northants SEND Partnership, which includes North Northamptonshire Council, Northampton Children’s Trust, Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board and North Northamptonshire Parent Carer Voices (NPCV), the workshops are aimed at parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), as well as professionals working within the sector.

The popular sessions have been running for the last four years and continue to provide a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to meet other families, connect with SEND professionals, and learn more about the help and support available locally.

The workshops take place at:

  • Wellingborough – Wednesday 11 November 2026, 6.30pm to 9pm, Rowan Gate, Wellingborough, NN8 1BE
  • Thrapston – Thursday 19 November 2026, 10am to 12.30pm, Thrapston Council Chambers, NN14 4LZ
  • Corby – Friday 27 November 2026, 11am to 1.30pm, Council Chambers, Corby Cube, NN17 1QG

Places are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Spaces can be booked online.

These workshops create an important opportunity for families, professionals and partners to come together, share experiences and explore how we can improve support for children and young people with SEND. Meaningful co-production means listening to families’ lived experiences from the outset and ensuring their voices genuinely influence decisions, services and outcomes. By bringing people together across the system, we can build a shared understanding of the challenges and develop solutions that make a real difference to children, young people and their families.Claire Baxter, Director at NPCV
These workshops are a great opportunity for parents, carers and professionals to come together, share their experiences and hear about the work taking place to improve SEND services across North Northamptonshire. The feedback we receive from families is invaluable in helping us understand what is working well and where we need to focus our efforts. I would encourage anyone with an interest in SEND to come along, get involved in the discussion and help us continue to shape services for children and young people.Cllr Elizabeth Wright, North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive Member for Children, Education and Families
