The sixth round of the UK Government’s Household Support Fund (HSF), worth £2,599,628, million is being administered by North Northamptonshire Council.
The fund is there to help vulnerable households with essential costs like food, energy, and water bills. This latest round, announced last year, covers a six-month period from October 2024 up until 31 March 2025.
The current round continues to support households in receipt of Pension Credits and households with children entitled to Free School Meals as well as other households and individuals struggling with rising costs. The support is as detailed in the links below:
Free School Meals
Wider Essentials Support
Winter Energy Support
Warm Spaces
Applications for Wider Essential Support and Winter Energy Support will be closing this Sunday, 2 February 2025 with over 2,400 applications so far and with the approval rate over 75% it is predicted that the funds will be spent.
The council has also added a map of Warm Spaces across North Northamptonshire on its website. The map sets out areas in Corby, Kettering, Thrapston, Rushden, Oundle and surrounding areas and Wellingborough offering warm spaces.
Support is also being provided through underspend redistribution to a partner organisation, The Daylight Centre Fellowship in Wellingborough, for use by the network of food banks and charitable organisations across North Northamptonshire.
The Government has also announced funding of £742 million will be provided to enable the HSF extension in England through to March 2026. This extension builds on the previous investment of £421 million to extend the current HSF in England for six months, running from 1 October 2024 until 31 March 2025. The details for the new scheme are yet to be released and once known, further information as to how this funding is to be used by Local Authorities will be shared.
