Designated responsible person - Housing
We need to designate the responsible person who ensures our compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing’s consumer standards:
- Evonne Coleman-Thomas - Assistant Director Strategic Housing, Development and Property Services
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
Oversight and assurance
Leading on governance arrangements to ensure that all housing services meet the required standards of safety, quality, and tenant engagement
Policy and process compliance
Ensuring that internal policies, procedures, and operational practices align with the four consumer standards:
- Home Standard (quality and safety of homes)
- Tenancy Standard (fair and transparent allocations and tenancy management)
- Neighbourhood and Community Standard (managing neighbourhoods effectively)
- Tenant Involvement and Empowerment Standard (engaging tenants in decision-making)
Monitoring and reporting
Establishing robust systems for monitoring compliance, identifying risks, and reporting performance to senior leadership and the governing body
Regulatory engagement
Acting as the primary point of contact with the Regulator of Social Housing on consumer compliance matters, including responding to inquiries and submitting evidence when required
Continuous improvement
Driving service improvements based on tenant feedback, audit findings, and regulatory updates to maintain and enhance compliance
