Sustainability in the community
A sustainable community resembles a living system in which human, natural and economic elements are interdependent and draw strength from each other.
Tips to help schools and community groups make a difference:
-
Planting trees can be very beneficial for the environment. The Woodland Trust provide free trees to schools and communities
-
The Wildlife Trust offers a variety of volunteer roles to help preserve local wildlife
-
Organise a litter pick or join one of the many local litter-picking groups across North Northamptonshire to help clean up our local community
-
Take a free climate change course - The Open University and Future Learn offer a variety of courses
-
Volunteer with Community Action Northants to help with local conservation and gardening activities
-
Create a community garden or grow a wild patch or ‘mini’ meadow
-
Join a “friends of” group to support local conversation efforts, for example, Friends of the River Nene
-
Visit or volunteer at one of our beautiful country parks to learn more about local biodiversity and wildlife
