Barnwell Country Park


Kingfisher café and visitor centre

Stop by the visitor centre for free activity sheets for kids, along with skulls, feely boxes, and nature games. Afterwards, enjoy the view from the Kingfisher Cafe’s lakeside deck. If you're lucky, you might spot one of the park's kingfishers.

Café opening times

  • January: Monday to Tuesday - closed, Wednesday to Friday - 10am to 3pm, Weekends - 10am to 4pm
  • April to October: Monday to Sunday - 10am to 4pm
  • November to March: Monday to Friday - 10am to 3pm, Weekends - 10am to 4pm

The toilets are open daily from:

  • April to October: 9am to 4:30pm
  • November to March: 9am to 4pm

Trails

  • Lakeside stroll - follow the 0.4km yellow route (allow 15 minutes), hard surfaced
  • Kingfisher nature trail - follow the 0.8km red route (allow 30 minutes), hard surfaced
  • Riverside walk - follow the 1.6km black route (allow 45 minutes), mostly hard surface paths, sections of sand, boardwalks and grassland meadow
  • Explore our Interactive Dinosaur safari walk

Fires and BBQ's

Fires and BBQs are banned in our parks.

Dog walking

We provide a pleasant dog friendly environment with areas where your dog is allowed off a lead (under control). Dogs are not permitted in the play area.
