Join the library

You can apply for full library, virtual library or dementia and memory loss membership.

Full library membership

Full membership is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Northamptonshire and you can:

  • borrow 20 items for 3 weeks from all Northamptonshire libraries
  • reserve items using our library catalogue and online resources
  • download eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers for free
  • get free access to premium online subscription websites such as encyclopaedias and newspaper archives

If you're 18 or over, you can apply online for a temporary borrower number and visit your nearest library so that we can complete your application, giving you a library card and access to our full services.

If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian present and visit your nearest library to join.

Virtual library membership

To become a virtual library member, you must live, work or study in Northamptonshire and have an email giving you free access to:

Dementia and memory loss membership

Anyone with memory problems such as dementia, traumatic brain injury or a cognitive impairment can apply.

You don't incur fees or charges and will be able to sign up to email reminders (where a pre-overdue email will be sent 3 days before the return date of your books and again when your books become overdue, if they aren't returned or renewed).
