Language and reading
There is no minimum English level. Those arriving from Ukraine may want to access English as a second language classes.

English classes - Kettering
Kettering Refugee Assistance is holding English lessons every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon, with other support available if needed at Central Methodist Church, Kettering, School Lane, NN16 0BP.
Online classes take place every Thursday and are accessed via their events page. Beginner classes take place from 5pm to 6pm and intermediate classes from 6pm to 7pm. Please message Kettering Refugee Assistance to complete a test to determine your skill level.

Free basic English classes run every Friday morning in Wellingborough from 10am to 12 noon at the Victoria Centre. Register for sessions by calling 01933 277400.

Family language courses
Free courses for parents to improve English skills and support their children’s learning. Topics include supporting your child with homework, accessing medical help, banking, etc.

Our libraries include a selection of books in Ukrainian and books on how to learn English. Our books are in a range of formats, including large print, audiobooks, picture books and story books for children.

The churches of Corby will be running a weekly drop-in for Ukrainian refugee families to meet one-another, make friends and access support, including signposting to other agencies.
