SEND Support Service - Courses for parents and carers
The following courses are delivered by the SEND Support Service (SSS) and are designed specifically for parents who have children with SEND. SSS practitioners offer advice and support to young people, families, carers and education establishments for children with a wide range of special educational needs aged 5 to 19.
Workshops
Workshops will be help from 9:30am to 12pm where hot drinks and biscuits are provided.
15 January 2026
The aims of this course is to:
- learn about sensory challenges in children and young people with a special educational need or disability (SEND)
- learn about some of the techniques for helping individuals with SEND to manage sensory regulation
12 March 2026
The aims of this course is to:
- understand the importance of visual structure, how it gives clarity and creates predictability
- to explore how and when to implement visual structure
3 and 10 June 2026
The aims of this course (delivered over two sessions) is to learn about:
- anger, anxiety and emotions in children and young people with a special educational need or disability (SEND)
- some of the methods for helping individuals with SEND to manage their emotions
