Your Voice Matters… first stage in new North Northants wide local plan

North Northamptonshire Council has launched a consultation which invites suggestions from residents and stakeholders on what the new Local Plan for the area should contain and how future stages of consultations and engagement should look.

North Northamptonshire Council are required to prepare a Local Plan to guide development and growth in the local area - everything from homes and jobs to schools and infrastructure. It must also support conservation and enhancement of the natural, built and historic environment and include measures to address climate change. 

This consultation is an opportunity for all those with an interest in how North Northamptonshire will develop and look in the future to have their say as the new Local Plan for North Northamptonshire will guide decisions in the period up to 2045.

This initial consultation follows the council’s Executive approving the move to the new plan-making process, which was introduced at the end of 2025.

The Local Plan is a key document to ensure we deliver the homes, facilities and jobs for future generations of residents and workers in North Northamptonshire.

To get to this point, there has been considerable work by council officers and I want to take this opportunity to thank them, whilst also encouraging residents to get involved.

The consultation will run until 1 July 2026 and can be viewed via the council’s consultation and engagement hub.
