As part of a wider project led by North Northamptonshire Council, full resurfacing of one of the main routes through Corby town centre is scheduled for later this month.

Working with Kier Transportation, works along Elizabeth Street will mean a full overnight road closure in place from 7pm - 6am between Monday 16 June - Friday 4 July. The road will be accessible as normal outside these times.

The work will follow on from recent works on the footways along Elizabeth Street and will see a full resurfacing of the road.

This scheme is part of the Town Centre to Train Station link road project which will look to improve the public realm and provide an attractive and safe pedestrian/cycle connections between the town centre and the train station along the southern route of Oakley Road.

It has been paid for through money awarded to the council from Government as part of the Corby Towns Fund.

Access for residents and businesses will be maintained wherever possible; however, vehicle access may be restricted during the overnight road closures.

Bus stops within the closure will be temporarily suspended and bus companies have been notified. The taxi rank on Elizabeth Street will be closed during the overnight closures.

During the closure, a full diversion will be in place and local residents can also use George Street between 6pm and 8am (between these times enforcement rules are not in place).

More information about the Corby Town Centre to Train Station link route, including the final designs for the route, are available on the Corby Towns Fund website.

Details about the works, including the diversion, will also be available on the council’s website
