On behalf of North Northamptonshire Council and the communities we serve, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of those who tragically lost their lives in this morning’s attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester. Our thoughts are also with those who remain critically injured and with everyone impacted by this horrific act.

The fact that this tragedy unfolded on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, adds a profound layer of sorrow. This was not only an assault on innocent individuals, but also on the spirit of reflection, compassion, and peace that defines this sacred day.

We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community in Manchester and here in North Northamptonshire. In these difficult times, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds feel safe, valued, and supported.

We also want to acknowledge the bravery and swift response of the emergency services and first responders. Their actions undoubtedly prevented further harm and deserve our deepest appreciation.

As we join the nation in mourning, North Northamptonshire Council remains committed to promoting unity, understanding, and resilience. These values are essential as we navigate through moments of tragedy and work together to build a future grounded in respect and shared humanity.
