Have your say on how to have your say! Residents invited to help shape how North Northamptonshire Council listens and engages
Your council24 August 2026

North Northamptonshire Council is inviting residents, community groups, businesses, partners and stakeholders to help shape the way the authority consults and engages with local people in the future.
As part of the development of its first ever Consultation and Engagement Strategy, the council is launching an early engagement exercise, giving people the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and expectations about how they would like to be involved in local decision-making.
The strategy will provide a clear framework for how the council engages with residents, communities and stakeholders, helping to ensure that local insight plays a central role in shaping services and informing decisions across North Northamptonshire.
The council wants to understand what works well, what could be improved and what would encourage more people from all communities to have their say.
Feedback gathered during this early engagement phase will help the council:
- Make it easier for people to get involved
- Reach a wider range of communities and voices
- Use engagement methods that work for different people
- Better demonstrate how feedback influences decisions
People are being encouraged to share their views on how they would like to engage with the council, what barriers may prevent participation and how communication and engagement can be improved.
We want to hear from as many people as possible as we develop our first Consultation and Engagement Strategy. Put simply, this is about helping us shape how we listen and talk to you in the future.Cllr Martin Griffiths, Leader of North Northamptonshire Council
Everyone’s voice matters, but we know that not everybody currently feels able, motivated or confident to take part in consultations and engagement activities. We want to understand why and learn what we can do differently.
Whether you’ve responded to council consultations before or have never taken part, we want to hear your views. This is a chance to help us design a more inclusive, accessible and effective approach to engagement, ensuring that local people remain at the heart of the decisions that affect their communities.
The strategy is being developed in two stages. The current phase focuses on gathering views and experiences before a draft strategy is produced. A formal public consultation on the draft strategy will then take place later in the year before the strategy is finalised.
