Have a Roarsome Summer at North Northamptonshire Country Parks

Country parks and woodlands

25 July 2024

Families can experience realistic dinosaurs for themselves in North Northamptonshire Country Parks this Summer.

Once you have downloaded the FREE Love Exploring app you will be able to see where all the interactive trails and games are located.

Dinosaurs may run, fly or even roar at you. The interactive walks are educational and can be a learning tool too. After finding each dinosaur you will get a trivia question to answer. Can you get them all correct?

The free app contains interactive games suitable for all ages. It has been created to encourage families, young and old, to get out and about.
With various locations to play the games, it’s ideal for getting some fresh air in the outdoors, while exploring our amazing North Northamptonshire Country Parks.
I can’t wait to see our residents experience the dinosaurs for themselves.
Councillor Helen Howell, Deputy Leader for North Northamptonshire Council and Executive Member for Sport, Leisure, Culture and Tourism

Families should visit a location near them as Dinosaur Safari is now available to experience.

Walking is a low-impact activity that is easy on your joints and can be done at any age or fitness level.
Earlier this year Public Health in North Northamptonshire Council awarded NN Leisure funding to develop an Interactive Walks project, in addition to the Wellbeing Walks.
This project promotes being active, moving more and healthier lifestyle choices. There are so many health and wellbeing advantages including raising the heartrate through cardiovascular activity, positive mental health and social interaction.
Councillor Gill Mercer, North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing

Currently the Dinosaur Safari is available at East Carlton Countryside Park, Fermyn Woods Country Park, Irchester Country Park, Sywell Country Park, and Barnwell Country Park (due to poor network coverage, use the visitor area free wifi to start the game - your results will be recorded when you return to the area) as well as West Glebe Park and Pavilion. More sites will follow soon.

Once you have downloaded Love Exploring you go to one of the locations and pull up a map of all the ‘stations’. These are where you will find your creatures. As you walk nearer to these you will see prompts telling you how close you are. On finding the station, the interactive image will pop up and you can take photos and film of your dinosaur.

The Interactive Walks provide the positive experience that being in an outside environment can bring and enjoyment of the beautiful countryside and parks we have in North Northamptonshire.

I’d encourage families looking for something fun to do this Summer to download the free Love Explore app and give the interactive walks a go.
I would also like to make sure our residents know that as well as the interactive walks there are also regular Wellbeing Walks. These are fun, free and friendly local walking groups open to all ages and abilities.
