Members of North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive took to the streets this week on a litter-pick – which netted more than 320kg of rubbish.

The Executive focussed on the Barnsley Square area of Corby to gather up litter as well as clearing back overhanging vegetation to open up the paths through the trees.

I think it’s important that we lead by example and all my Executive members are determined to instil a sense of pride and love for our communities.

In a morning we gathered up a staggering amount of bags of cans, litter, bottles, and other detritus that was collected in quite a small area.

This isn’t a one-off – we’re determined to do this again and focus on other parts of the North Northants area.
Cllr Martin Griffiths, Leader of the Council
